Stop using guns to shoot ATHEON!!
Is it just me, or recently are all these christmas noobs posting on lfg as 30/31s and turning VoG HM into a shit fest.
I mean come on everyone. It is called a "SUPER". Your most powerful move. You ever wonder why your super charges so fast in the shield? Because bungie wanted you to use them. If everyone used their super. Atheon goes down IN 10 SECONDS. Ghorn is ok to use, if you are a defender. And if you have a double gernade perk. Use those first.
I swear these new guys. Thinking you need blackhammer. We did that shit for months with out it!
But I digress. Stop using your guns during times vengence. Supers only

Third edit: Because all you noobs are too dumb. Here is a test.
Shoot a captain with a one sniper bullet. Does he die? No. Use one super on same captain. He dies. Why? Because the super is stronger. Now Time's Vengence multiples total damage out put. So why not multiple your strongest attack. You all just need to think about it and stop being so stupid.
Edit 4: Seriously everyone? Still don't believe me, well fine. Here, I recorded my fire team and I using supers only. Here the video. THIS IS PROOF IT WORKS.

Edit 5: Final edit. Everyone, accept it. This method is the best. All your icebreaker and blackhammer pale in comparison. SUPERS ARE THE BEST WAY TO KILL HIM.

7 RepliesDo some math before "giving advice". Icebreaker hits for like 20 k w weapons of light. Super does like 2 k lol. Sure, go nova bomb, toss 40 solar grenades, golden gun and arc blade lol. Atheon will be all over the map. Then the only guy shooting his weapons won't be able to hit criticals and your dps tanks even more after that.

2 RepliesSupers don't do much damage to Atheon. Its called damage per second. Shooting him with rockets and then switching to your sniper or primary do more damage. Using your supers are waste just because it takes to long because of the little cinematic your character does. And the only characters that can actually hit Atheon with supers anyways are the hunter and warlock. Fist of havoc is just dumb to use on him unless he's almost dead. I jumped in HM VoG with randoms and they told me I couldn't use my gjallahorn. I just laughed at them and so did a few others. We all pulled rockets out and beat Atheon on the 2nd teleport

2 RepliesTimes vengeance does not affect ability damage. You grenades, super, and melee deal the exact same damage to atheon during time's vengeance as the do the rest of the time. That said, I AM GJALLARHORN. taking a fifth of atheons health while he is a statue w/o using ammunition is very gratifying. Nothing better than generating six orbs off his ass. Fusion nade sunbro for life! But for reals op, times vengeance makes weapon DPS something serious. Stop acting like it doesn't.

1 ReplyThere's a little thing called DPS you should look into before saying "a super kills a captain quicker than weapons so it must just kill everything quicker." Atheon has a damage window of about 15 seconds and the HP of probably 100 captains. Put that into perspective.

I can almost swear that you're trolling, but just in case you're actually not aware, golden gun will do less damage than fatebringer on atheon. And that's just a primary weapon! The only supers that could even hit him are GG and nova bomb, and while I don't know the exact damage of NB on atheon, I'd still recommend any sniper rifle over a super. They (all guns) have a huge damage buff during times vengeance.

While I think this guy is probably trolling I do have a question for everyone else I was wondering about. If warlocks self res give them extra weapon damage then shouldn't they use that during times vengeance? I would think their super buff, plus times vengeance buff, plus a weapons of light would destroy atheon very fast.

2 RepliesYou are special... Times Vengeance applies to weapons that shoot bullets only, so that means no super (including golden gun) and no melee buffs.

2 RepliesYea I took 5 blade dancers into Atheon and we blade danced him to death in 2.4 seconds. You should have seen how quickly the group of 6 defender Titans took him out with only supers. Amazing
